The wait is finally getting shorter. Tata Motors has officially confirmed the launch of the Tata Sierra EV, and the electric SUV world in India is buzzing. After years of concepts, spy shots, and teaser drops, the iconic Sierra nameplate is now ready to go electric.

The Big Announcement — Sierra EV Gets a Launch Window
Tata Motors MD and CEO Shailesh Chandra officially confirmed the news. He placed the Tata Sierra EV launch firmly in Q2 of FY2027, which means July to September 2026. Speaking about the year ahead, Chandra said the company plans at least two new nameplates and four facelifts. Clearly, Tata has an aggressive plan for 2026.
The ICE version of the Sierra hit showrooms on 25 November 2025 and it scored a perfect five stars at Bharat NCAP. So, the EV version carries high expectations on its shoulders.
A Design That Turns Heads — Inside and Out
The Tata Sierra EV stays true to its concept roots. Therefore, fans of the boxy, upright Sierra silhouette will not be disappointed. The front gets a fully closed grille, a connected LED light bar, and sleek split LED headlamps. Additionally, vertically stacked fog lamps and aero-optimised body panels give it a sharp, purposeful look.
The profile remains almost identical to the ICE version. However, flush-fitting door handles, gloss black cladding, and large dual-tone alloy wheels add an EV-specific flair. At the rear, connected LED tail lamps and a roof spoiler complete the picture beautifully.

Under the skin, the Tata Sierra EV runs on Tata’s Gen 2 ev platform. This is the same architecture that powers both the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV. Furthermore, it brings proven reliability and strong performance credentials to the table.
Tata will offer two battery pack sizes — 65 kWh and 75 kWh. Base variants will get rear-wheel drive. However, higher trims will come with a dual-motor Quad Wheel Drive setup. Additionally, Tata may offer a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option. This brings down the upfront purchase cost considerably, which is a smart move for budget-conscious buyers.

Feature-Packed Cabin — Tech at Every Corner
Inside, the Tata Sierra EV steps up with serious tech. The cabin features a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a digital instrument cluster. Furthermore, top variants get a triple-screen setup, similar to what we have already seen on the ICE Sierra.
Other notable features include a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, connected car tech, an electric parking brake, and multiple drive modes. Consequently, daily city commutes and long highway runs both become more convenient and safer.
Rivals, Pricing, and Where It Sits in Tata’s Lineup
Tata has smartly positioned the Tata Sierra EV just below the Harrier EV in its electric SUV family. Therefore, it fills a crucial gap between the Nexon EV and the Harrier EV. In terms of competition, it directly takes on the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti e Vitara, and Mahindra BE 6.
On pricing, expect a range of ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, the BaaS option may bring the effective entry price down further. Given the equipment list and platform, that price band looks competitive against its rivals.
Colour Options — Four Shades to Choose From
The Tata Sierra EV will arrive in four colour options — White, Red, Black, and Yellow. The Andaman Adventure Yellow shade, which has already won hearts on the ICE version, is expected to be a crowd favourite on the EV too. Finally, Tata gives buyers enough variety to express their personality.
