Land Rover Discovery Landmark Edition Revealed!

The Discovery Just Got a New Member in the Middle

The Land Rover Discovery has always been about quiet confidence. Not the loudest luxury SUV in the room, but one of the most capable, most spacious and most trusted. Across its decades-long history, it has carried families across continents and terrains that would stop less capable vehicles in their tracks. The Discovery lineup in India has now been expanded with a new variant, the Landmark Edition, positioned as a mid-level option between the base S and the flagship Tempest. The Land Rover Discovery Landmark Edition has already been listed on JLR India’s official website, though pricing has not yet been announced.

A Colour That Carries Heritage in Its Name

The most immediately distinctive feature of the Landmark Edition is a new exclusive paint option called Tasman Blue. It is described by Land Rover as being inspired by Clearwater Blue, a heritage colour that dates back to the very first Discovery in 1989. That connection to the model’s origins gives the colour a meaning beyond its appearance. It carries the weight of history. On a vehicle that has been a part of the Discovery lineage since the beginning, that choice feels appropriate. The metallic finish catches light well, and the blue tone sits comfortably within the premium SUV space without demanding attention the way more aggressive colours often do.

Exterior Details That Set It Apart

Beyond the paint, the Landmark Edition carries several exterior distinguishing elements. A Graphite Atlas finish is applied to the grille, front fender vents and the Discovery branding at the front and rear. Rear skid plates are finished in Carpathian Grey. A unique mountain logo appears on the front scuff plate, an identity detail that ties back to the Discovery’s off-road heritage and adventure positioning. All Discovery models, including the Landmark Edition, now get a new Dark Agate Grey finish for the 21-inch alloy wheels, which adds a darker and more contemporary edge to the wheel design across the lineup.

Inside the Landmark Edition

The interior of the Landmark Edition carries the same attention to detail as the exterior. Door pads and the dashboard are trimmed in Tech Velour, a faux suede material that adds a tactile softness to the cabin’s character. Brushed aluminium accents with Landmark Edition branding appear across the interior. The mountain logo, which marks the exterior, also appears on the centre console and circular B-pillar insert, as well as on puddle lamp projectors that display it on the ground when the door is opened.

Two features stand out as genuinely useful additions on the Landmark Edition. A sliding panoramic sunroof opens the cabin to natural light on good days. A refrigerated centre console is the other notable addition, keeping drinks chilled during long journeys. These are not flashy additions, but they are exactly the kind of thoughtful details that make a long-distance family SUV more enjoyable to live with day to day.

The Tempest Gets a New Colour Too

The flagship Tempest variant of the Discovery has also received an update as part of this refresh. A new exclusive colour, Borasco Grey, is now available on the Tempest. Additionally, all Tempest variants now receive a matte protective film as standard, regardless of which colour is chosen. The Tempest continues to sit above the Landmark Edition in the hierarchy, distinguishing itself through 22-inch wheels, Petra Copper accents and its choice of Ebony or Light Oyster Windsor leather for the interior. The three-tier lineup of S, Landmark and Tempest now covers a meaningful spread of luxury intent and specification levels.

One More Addition for Every Discovery

Alongside the new Landmark Edition and Tempest colour update, all Discovery models across the range now receive a driver attention monitoring system as standard. This feature tracks driver behaviour and provides alerts when signs of fatigue or distraction are detected. It is a safety addition that costs the buyer nothing extra and adds a meaningful layer of active protection for long-distance family driving, which is precisely what the Discovery is most often used for.

The Engine Remains Unchanged and That Is No Complaint

The powertrain carrying all of this forward is unchanged and needs no apology. The Discovery continues with its single 3.0-litre diesel engine, producing 350hp and 700Nm of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels as standard. Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 system provides a suite of terrain and driving modes for different surfaces. The Discovery’s water wading depth is rated at 900mm. Towing capacity stands at 3,500kg. For a seven-seat luxury SUV that is expected to handle both school runs and genuinely challenging off-road environments, these figures cover most real-world requirements comprehensively.

What It Means for the Discovery in India

Land Rover has been steadily building the Discovery’s case in India as a more practical and family-focused alternative to the Defender, which tends to attract more attention due to its bolder styling. The Discovery’s strength has always been in what it can carry, how many it can seat and how confidently it handles terrain that most luxury buyers would never attempt.

The Land Rover Discovery Landmark Edition adds a new entry point between the base and flagship, allowing more buyers to access the character of the model at a specification level that feels neither stripped-back nor over-specified. Pricing is awaited, and when it arrives, it will determine how strong a case the Landmark Edition can make in India’s premium SUV space.
