Hyundai has finally revealed the first official images of the next-gen Hyundai i20. The premium hatchback now looks sharper, wider and significantly more futuristic than before.
The fourth-generation i20 will make its global debut soon. However, leaked official images already reveal most exterior and interior details. Hyundai appears ready to push the i20 closer towards premium European hatchback territory.
Next-Gen Hyundai i20 Gets Radical Exterior Styling
The new Hyundai i20 carries a completely redesigned front fascia. Unlike the current model, the hatchback now uses Hyundai’s latest global design language.
Up front, the car gets sharp Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps connected through a full-width LED light bar. Hyundai has positioned the main headlamp units lower on the bumper for a cleaner look. The grille now appears larger and more separated from the lighting setup. The front section looks sportier and more aggressive. At the rear, the next-gen Hyundai i20 receives connected LED tail-lamps with a fresh C-shaped lighting signature. Moreover, the rear bumper looks more muscular than before.
The side profile also appears slightly crossover-inspired and the hatchback now carries a stronger road presence.
Cabin Receives Bigger Screens And Modern Layout
The biggest interior upgrade comes inside the dashboard area. Spy images and official previews confirm a new curved dual-screen setup similar to newer Hyundai models. The integrated display combines the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system into one wide panel.
Additionally, Hyundai has redesigned the steering wheel and centre console. Several interior elements also appear inspired by the latest Hyundai Venue and Verna.
The next-gen Hyundai i20 is expected to offer:
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- Connected car technology
- 360-degree camera
- Ventilated seats
- Wireless charger
- Ambient lighting
- Panoramic-style display layout
Hyundai may target buyers looking for a more premium hatchback experience.

The hatchback now gets full-width connected lighting at both ends.
2. Sharp Y-Shaped DRLs
Hyundai introduces a completely new lighting signature for the i20.
3. Curved Dual-Screen Dashboard

Engine Options May Continue With Upgrades
Hyundai has not officially confirmed the full powertrain lineup yet. However, reports suggest the next-gen Hyundai i20 may continue with familiar petrol engines.
The expected engine options include:
- 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol
- 1.0-litre turbo-petrol
Hyundai is reportedly developing a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine for future models. Therefore, the updated i20 could eventually receive a more powerful and efficient turbo option. Some global markets may also receive mild-hybrid technology later.

Hyundai Pushes The i20 Further Premium
The current Hyundai i20 already remains one of India’s most feature-loaded hatchbacks. However, the next-generation model appears ready to move even further upmarket. The new design takes inspiration from Hyundai’s global EV and crossover lineup. Consequently, the hatchback now looks more mature and futuristic. Moreover, Hyundai may also improve cabin space and practicality with the new generation model.
Global Debut Expected Soon
Hyundai has already started teasing the next-gen Hyundai i20 globally. Several reports now suggest the hatchback could debut officially during the 2026 FIFA World Cup period.
Initially, Hyundai will introduce the model in markets like Brazil and Europe. Later, the company could launch the India-spec version sometime in 2027.
Hyundai’s Premium Hatchback Story Evolves Again
The Hyundai i20 has always played an important role in India’s premium hatchback segment. Now, the next-generation model looks ready for a major transformation.
The next-gen Hyundai i20 combines sharper styling, larger screens and premium technology in a more modern package. If Hyundai prices it correctly, the hatchback could once again become one of the strongest rivals to the Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz.
