A 22nd consecutive WorldSBK victory was sealed at MotorLand Aragon on Sunday afternoon. The Ducati rider did not have it entirely his own way but when it mattered most, the result was never truly in doubt. For Bulega, Aragon was just another weekend. For everyone chasing him, it was another reminder of just how far ahead he currently is.

The Superpole Race Almost Changed Everything

Before Race 2, Bulega’s weekend had already produced a tense moment in the Superpole Race. Bulega made a tyre choice that nearly cost him. The Pirelli SC0 rear tyre was selected as gamble built on the hope of stronger grip in the closing laps. The rest of the field went with the SCX tyre.

That choice paid off early. Bulega lost time at the start and dropped as far back as fifth position. For a brief period, the streak looked genuinely under threat. However, as the 10-lap race progressed and the tyre advantage shifted, Bulega found his rhythm. From fifth, he worked his way back to the front. Teammate Iker Lecuona was beaten by half a second at the flag. The streak survived but only just.

Race 2 Brings a Familiar Outcome

Sunday’s Race 2 at the Aragon WorldSBK round followed a pattern that is becoming very familiar. Iker Lecuona pushed hard in the early stages and made the race genuinely interesting. The Honda rider applied pressure from the opening laps and kept Bulega honest. The Ducati rider, however, responded with authority. By the middle portion of the race, a 1.5-second gap had been constructed between himself and Lecuona. That buffer was the race effectively won. Lecuona did close in again towards the final laps. But Bulega was never rattled. The chequered flag came and went and the Italian crossed the line first once again. 22 in a row. Said out loud, it barely sounds real.

Ducati Lock Out the Podium

Behind the winner, the Nicolo Bulega Aragon WorldSBK 2026 Race 2 podium was completed entirely by Ducati machinery. Sam Lowes secured third place to complete a clean Ducati podium lockout. It was an impressive team result at a circuit that had been made difficult by unusually hot temperatures throughout the weekend. Managing tyres and machinery in that kind of heat requires precise riding and smart race management. Both Bulega and Lowes delivered exactly that. For Ducati, Aragon was a near-perfect day with the top three all dressed in red.

Kawasaki/ Bimota Trio Make Their Presence Felt

The race also brought some encouraging news for the Kawasaki/ Bimota camp. Three Kawasaki-powered riders finished in consecutive positions just outside the podium. Alex Lowes crossed the line in fourth on the Bimota followed by teammate Axel Bassani. Garrett Gerloff rounded it out on his Kawasaki in sixth. Three bikes with the same engine finishing fourth, fifth and sixth is a statement of consistency even if the top three were beyond reach on this occasion. Behind them, Alvaro Bautista, Alberto Surra, Tommy Bridewell and Michael van der Mark completed the top ten.

After Race 2 at Aragon, Bulega did not sound like a man who takes any of this for granted. The heat, the tyre decisions, the pressure of the streak none of it had gone unnoticed. “I feel very good, it was very important to win here,” Bulega said after the race. The weekend had been physically demanding throughout. “The weekend was difficult with these hot temperatures it wasn’t easy to ride the bike and ride without mistakes.” For a rider on a 22-race winning streak, those words reflect exactly the kind of mindset that builds streaks like this in the first place.

What the Championship Looks Like Now

Aragon was the sixth round of the 2026 WorldSBK season. The result has only strengthened what was already an imposing championship lead for the Italian. With 22 consecutive wins now on the board, the gap to his nearest rivals continues to grow. The question being asked across the paddock is no longer whether Bulega can be beaten in a race but whether anyone can stop him from winning the championship altogether.
