Tata Motors has finally given the Altroz the makeover it truly deserved. Five years after its debut, the Tata Altroz facelift arrives with sharper styling, a premium cabin, and smarter technology and it means business. The 2026 Tata Altroz facelift is not just a refresh — it is a statement. Tata has addressed most weaknesses the original car had. The cabin is now premium, the technology is current, and the safety is class-leading. Moreover, the diesel engine continues to make it unique in this segment.
Simply put, Tata Motors has built a hatchback that is hard to ignore.
Why the 2026 Tata Altroz Facelift Is a Big Deal
The Altroz first hit Indian roads in January 2020. Since then, it quietly built a strong fan base. However, rivals kept refreshing. Tata, therefore, decided it was time to act. The result is the most significant update the Altroz has ever received.
This is not just a cosmetic touch-up. Tata has redesigned the exterior, revamped the interior, added new technology, and introduced a new gearbox option. The updated hatch now carries a full 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, a massive achievement in this segment.
Prices for the Tata Altroz facelift start at ₹6.30 lakh and go up to ₹10.77 lakh (ex-showroom). It takes on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza directly and confidently.
5 Things That Make the Altroz Facelift Stand Out
- First Big Makeover Since 2020 — Five years in the making, this is a proper full refresh.
- India’s Only Diesel Hatchback — No other hatchback in India offers a diesel engine today.
- Brand New AMT Gearbox — The 1.2-litre petrol now gets an affordable automatic option.
- Full 5-Star Bharat NCAP Rating — Class-leading safety as standard across all variants.
- 27 Variants to Choose From — The widest choice in the premium hatchback segment.
Fresh New Face: The 2026 Tata Altroz Facelift Exterior Gets Sharper
The front end of the Tata Altroz facelift looks dramatically different now. Tata has fitted twin-pod LED projector headlamps with eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs. The grille gets a slimmer, more textured look. The front bumper now has sharper contours with LED fog lamps on higher trims.
While the side profile stays largely unchanged. However, Tata adds new 16-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels and flush-fitting illuminated door handles. These small touches make a big visual difference.
At the rear, the changes are equally striking. New horizontal T-shaped LED tail-lights connect via a sleek LED light bar. Furthermore, a dual-tone rear bumper adds a sportier character. Bold ‘Altroz’ lettering sits neatly on the lower tailgate.
Available Colours: Dune Glow, Ember Glow, Pure Grey, Pristine White, and Royal Blue.
Inside the New Altroz A Cabin That Finally Feels Premium
Step inside the updated hatch, and the improvement is immediately clear. Tata has completely redesigned the dashboard. The layout now looks clean, modern, and much more upmarket. In fact, it borrows design cues from the Tata Nexon and Curvv.
The centrepiece is a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system. The driver gets a matching 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. A new 2-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo completes the sporty look.
The top variants of the Tata Altroz facelift pack serious features. These include a voice-activated sunroof, 360-degree HD surround camera, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charger, and an air purifier. Other highlights include automatic climate control, rear AC vents, cooled glovebox, paddle shifters, and auto-fold ORVMs.
The boot offers a generous 345 litres of space though CNG variants carry 210 litres. Overall, this cabin now truly competes with the best in its segment.

Engine Options Petrol, Diesel, CNG, and a New Automatic
Mechanically, Tata keeps the proven engine lineup intact. The Tata Altroz facelift, therefore, offers three engine choices.
First, the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol produces 87bhp and 115Nm of torque. Moreover, this engine now pairs with three gearbox options a 5-speed manual, a brand new 5-speed AMT, and a 6-speed DCT automatic.
Second, the 1.2-litre CNG version makes 74bhp. Notably, Tata also added an AMT option to select CNG variants in May 2026 — Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative S, and Accomplished S.
Third, the 1.5-litre diesel pumps out 90bhp and 200Nm of torque. Consequently, it offers strong pulling power in city traffic and on highways. However, it does produce noticeable engine clatter. It remains the only diesel hatchback engine available in India today.
Notably, the popular Altroz Racer’s 120hp turbo-petrol has been dropped for now. Tata may reintroduce it later.
Real-World Efficiency What to Expect
For CNG buyers, the real-world figures look genuinely impressive. The Altroz CNG delivers 20.56km/kg in the city and 29.65km/kg on the highway. Additionally, the twin-cylinder CNG system carries 60 litres of gas giving good range between refills.
However, both petrol and diesel variants share a modest 37-litre fuel tank. Therefore, frequent highway travellers should plan refill stops accordingly.
Variants and Pricing What Does Each Trim Offer?
Tata has simplified the lineup with a new naming structure. The Tata Altroz facelift now comes in five trims Smart, Pure, Creative, Accomplished S, and Accomplished+S.
In total, buyers get 27 variants to choose from covering petrol, CNG, diesel, and multiple gearbox combinations. Prices range from ₹6.30 lakh to ₹10.77 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, the top-spec Accomplished+S trim exclusively comes with the turbo-petrol DCT powertrain.
Safety First: Six Airbags Standard on Every Variant
Tata Motors takes safety seriously. Therefore, every single variant of the Tata Altroz facelift gets six airbags as standard. Additionally, the full suite includes ABS with EBD, ESP, TPMS, rear parking sensors, blind spot monitor, auto park lock on DCT variants, cruise control, and a speed alert system.
The car has earned a full 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, which firmly establishes it as the safest premium hatchback in India today.
How Does It Stack Up Against Rivals?
The Tata Altroz facelift enters a fiercely competitive space. The Baleno and Glanza lead sales charts. However, neither offers a diesel engine or a 5-star safety rating across all variants. Furthermore, the Altroz now matches both in technology and surpasses them in safety.
If you want the safest, most feature-packed premium hatchback in India under ₹11 lakh, the updated Altroz makes a very strong case.
