Introduction to Renault’s Futuready India Strategy
Renault Group has recently introduced its ambitious growth strategy for India, termed “Futuready India”. This plan positions India as a crucial component of Renault’s global operations, as announced by CEO François Provost during a significant event in Chennai. This strategy reflects Renault’s aim to enhance its presence and investment in the Indian market.
Goals and Product Expansion
With the Futuready India strategy, Renault aims to transform India into one of its top three global markets by 2030. To realize this objective, the company is planning its largest product expansion in the country. By the end of the decade, Renault intends to increase its model portfolio to seven, which will include internal combustion engines, hybrid models, and fully electric vehicles.

Engineering and Manufacturing Insights
A key aspect of this strategy is the elevation of India’s role in Renault’s global operations. The Chennai engineering center, staffed by approximately 6,000 engineers, is set to take on more significant global vehicle architecture and platform development duties. Additionally, Renault has gained full ownership of its Chennai manufacturing facility, enabling better localization and supplier integration. Renault also targets reaching €2 billion in annual exports from India by 2030, thereby solidifying its approach to leverage the country as a manufacturing and export hub.
