Skoda Has Been Quiet About Electric. The Peaq Changes That.
Skoda’s electric story in India has been largely absent so far. The Epiq, Elroq and Enyaq the brand’s existing EV portfolio globally have not made it to Indian showrooms. That gap has been noticed. But the brand has just revealed the car that could change the conversation entirely. The Skoda Peaq Electric SUV has been officially unveiled as the brand’s global flagship a seven-seat, three-row electric SUV with a maximum claimed WLTP range of 647km, a 91kWh battery pack and a design philosophy that feels genuinely fresh. Skoda India’s brand director Ashish Gupta has confirmed the Peaq is on his radar. “My ambition is to have our global portfolio in India next year,” he said.
The Size Bigger Than Anything Skoda Has Done Before

The Peaq is genuinely large. At 4,874mm long with a 2,965mm wheelbase, it occupies the space of a proper full-size three-row electric SUV. Boot space with all seven seats in use stands at 299 litres usable, if not exceptional. Fold the third row and that number climbs to 935 litres, the largest boot space of any Skoda product ever made. A 37-litre frunk under the bonnet adds further storage. 33 litres of cabin storage are spread across multiple compartments. The panoramic glass roof measures 2.1 square metres Skoda’s largest to date and uses Dynamic Shade Control to allow electronic adjustment of light entry and tinting. Vegan seat upholstery is available from launch. Leather joins the range later.
Three Powertrains Something for Every Kind of Buyer
- The Skoda Peaq Electric SUV is offered internationally in three variants 60, 90 and 90x each targeting a different performance and range requirement.
- The Peaq 60 uses a 63kWh battery with a 150kW rear-mounted motor producing 204hp. Claimed WLTP range stands at 459km. The 0-100kmph sprint takes 8.6 seconds. Charging from 10 to 80 per cent via a 160kW DC fast charger takes 27 minutes.
- The Peaq 90 moves to the 91kWh battery the largest fitted to any Skoda product to date with a more powerful 210kW rear-mounted motor producing 286hp. Claimed WLTP range reaches 647km. The 0-100kmph time improves to 7.1 seconds. Charging from 10 to 80 per cent takes 28 minutes via a 199kW DC charger.
- The Peaq 90x uses the same 91kWh battery in a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration producing a combined 299hp and completing 0-100kmph in 6.7 seconds. Claimed WLTP range is 605km. Towing capacity rises to 2 tonnes with a braked trailer on this variant. The rear-wheel-drive 90 manages 1.8 tonnes.
Design Modern Solid Language and a Sub-0.25 Drag Coefficient

The exterior of the Peaq follows Skoda’s latest Modern Solid design philosophy. Clean surfaces, purposeful details and aerodynamic intent at every point. The front carries what Skoda calls a Tech-Deck Face a gloss black panel with LED vertical slats alongside T-shaped Matrix LED headlights and eyebrow-shaped DRLs. Active cooling shutters, aero-optimised wheel covers, Air Curtain ducts and a roof-mounted spoiler work together to deliver a drag coefficient below 0.25 an impressive figure for a vehicle of this size. Wheel sizes range from 19 to 21 inches. Powered flush door handles are a first for Skoda extending automatically on unlock and capable of manual operation. A provision has been engineered into the mechanism for easier use in icy conditions.
Inside A Cabin That Has Been Thought Through

The dashboard is built around a 13.6-inch portrait-style infotainment touchscreen running an Android-based operating system. A 10-inch digital driver’s display completes the dual-screen setup. A heated two-spoke steering wheel with Skoda wordmark branding adds a premium touch. Physical controls are retained for climate settings, ventilation, hazard lights, door locks and media volume a deliberate decision that will be appreciated by anyone frustrated by fully touchscreen-controlled interiors.
The optional Relax Package transforms the cabin’s character significantly. AGR-certified front seats with massage function, adjustable leg rests, a foldable table, integrated seat pillows and a wellbeing application with six dedicated modes including relaxation, stretching and re-energising are all part of the package. A 16-speaker Sonos sound system with an A2B amplifier, dual subwoofer and 755W total output is among the most capable in-car audio setups in this segment.
The Peaq is also the first Skoda to offer a digital key allowing the car to be locked and unlocked via a smartphone or smartwatch. An optional augmented reality head-up display is also available.
Bidirectional Charging and Smart Features
The Peaq supports V2L, V2H and V2G capability allowing it to power external appliances, a home grid or even feed electricity back to the broader energy network, when paired with a Moon Power wallbox. Windscreen wipers with integrated washer nozzles appear on a Skoda for the first time. A Top Area View 360-degree parking assistant, wireless phone charging with magnetic alignment and a new heat pump are also among the notable additions. B mode enables one-pedal driving through regenerative braking alone.
Safety Ten Airbags and a Comprehensive ADAS Suite

The Peaq comes with ten airbags as standard. The ADAS suite covers Front Assist, Crossroad Assist, Turn Assist, Lane Assist, Side Assist, Rear Traffic Alert, Exit Warning and Predictive Cruise Control. An optional Travel Assist 3.0 system adds traffic light recognition capability. A 360-degree camera system is standard. A Sportline trim variant available from launch adds gloss black exterior detailing, black badging, optional black roof, Top LED Matrix headlamps, an illuminated light band and a black Sportline Lounge interior with sports seats and a three-spoke steering wheel.
Will the Peaq Come to India?
The most important question for Indian readers and the honest answer is that it is closer to yes than ever before. Skoda India’s brand director Ashish Gupta has explicitly stated that the Peaq is on his radar. He has also indicated that any India launch would prioritise a properly equipped variant rather than a stripped specification at a high price. If the Peaq does arrive here, it would most likely come as a CBU import. In the UK, prices start from £51,980 (approximately Rs 64.95 lakh) before Indian taxes and duties. That positions it as a direct rival to the Kia EV9, currently priced at Rs 1.30 crore in India.
