Italy’s Most Beautiful GT Cars Just Got Better
There are few automobiles in the world that carry beauty and performance in equal measure the way Maserati’s GT twins do. The 2026 Maserati GranTurismo coupe and the GranCabrio convertible have always occupied a very specific space somewhere between everyday usability and pure theatre. They are cars bought with the heart and justified with the head. For 2026, Maserati has given both models a meaningful mid-lifecycle update more power from the combustion engine, significantly better range from the electric versions, a new drive mode, a refreshed interior and additional personalisation choices. Nothing about what made these cars special has been changed. Everything about them has been sharpened.
The V6 Gets More Power 590hp in the Trofeo

Both the 2026 Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio continue to use Maserati’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged Nettuno V6 engine. Two states of tune remain on offer the Modena variant produces 490hp, while the top-spec Trofeo now produces 590hp. That is an increase of 40hp over the previous Trofeo figure achieved through increased turbo boost pressure and minor internal modifications. The 8-speed automatic gearbox fitted to both variants has been recalibrated for greater responsiveness shifting more quickly and smoothly than before. The Nettuno engine was developed specifically for Maserati and incorporates F1-derived combustion technology in its cylinder heads. That heritage continues unchanged now with more power on tap at the top of the range.
The Folgore EV Versions: 90km More Range Through Smart Engineering

The electric Folgore versions of the 2026 Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio retain their 92.5kWh battery pack and triple-motor architecture two motors at the rear, one at the front. Combined output remains at 761hp for both. What has changed is the claimed driving range now 540km, an increase of 90km over the previous figure. That improvement has been achieved through a clever engineering solution rather than a larger battery. A new system can disconnect the front motor entirely when maximum traction and performance are not required reducing parasitic energy consumption during everyday driving and cruising.
Top speed remains impressive across both EV variants. The GranTurismo Folgore reaches 325kmph. The GranCabrio Folgore carrying the additional weight and aerodynamic complexity of a folding roof tops out at 290kmph. Both figures are remarkable for fully electric vehicles, and both remain largely unchanged from the pre-update specification.
All-Wheel Drive, Air Suspension and a New Country Mode
Every variant of both models whether combustion or electric comes with all-wheel drive and air suspension as standard. For 2026, Maserati has added a new driving mode called Country. Designed for use on rougher road surfaces, this mode raises the vehicle’s ride height by 25mm at speeds of up to 120kmph. For a grand touring car that may encounter imperfect road surfaces during long cross-country drives particularly relevant for India’s road conditions this is a genuinely practical addition rather than a marketing exercise.
Exterior: Subtle but Purposeful Changes

The visual changes to the 2026 Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio are deliberate rather than dramatic. The front end receives reshaped air intakes and a revised central splitter designed to generate additional front downforce at speed. At the rear, the tail-lamp units now carry clear lenses a cleaner, more contemporary look than before. Wheel designs have been updated across the range.

Maserati GranCabrio Trofeo
Through Maserati’s Officine Fuoriserie personalisation programme, “seven new exterior paint options are now available Green Jupiter Matte, Blu Denim, Bronzo Lucido, Bronzo Matte, Grigio Mistero, Rosso Velluto and Oro Lirico”. New colour options for the badges and exhaust tips expand personalisation further. Despite the updates, the EV and ICE versions remain visually near-identical differentiated primarily by their wheel designs, the absence of rear exhaust tips on the Folgore and the convertible roof on the GranCabrio.
Inside A Racing Steering Wheel and a Smarter Cabin

The interior changes on the updated models are focused and well-chosen. The most immediately noticeable addition is a new racing-inspired steering wheel featuring flat upper and lower sections, dark satin aluminium spokes and an option for perforated leather. It is the kind of steering wheel that communicates performance before the engine is even started. The drive selector receives metal-finished controls. The paddle shifters now also handling a parking function have been redesigned. The digital clock has been given an octagonal shape, a metal bezel, new graphics and a pop-up function for drive mode changes.
The technology suite across both models now includes a 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen, a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.8-inch HVAC display and a head-up display. A driver monitoring system has been added detecting distraction and fatigue and alerting the driver accordingly. It is a comprehensive upgrade that brings the cabin experience meaningfully closer to the premium standards set by rivals.
What About India?

The question most Indian Maserati enthusiasts will be asking is when does this arrive here? At present, Maserati has not confirmed a launch timeline for the updated GranTurismo and GranCabrio in India. The brand is currently focused on expanding its dealer network. On June 12, Maserati announced that Navnit Motors will begin retail operations in Mumbai adding to existing dealerships in Delhi and Bengaluru. The brand currently sells the Grecale SUV and the MCPura supercar in India alongside the existing GT twins.
The India-EU FTA Factor
There is a larger context to all of this for Indian buyers. Maserati is closely watching developments around the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement. A deal that, if finalised, would significantly reduce import duties on European cars sold in India. In anticipation of the FTA, brands like Ferrari have already started accepting orders at prices approximately 30 per cent lower than current levels. If the FTA progresses, the updated GranTurismo and GranCabrio could arrive in India at pricing that makes them considerably more accessible than the current generation. That is a development worth watching closely.
