Toyota India 2026 SUV Plans: New Launches

Toyota plans new SUV launches, expanded production, and hybrid powertrains for India — covering the 2026 Corolla Cross refresh, Land Cruiser FJ debut, and upcoming Maharashtra plants. Toyota is making some very bold moves in 2026. The Japanese giant is refreshing its SUV lineup, building new factories in India, and pushing hard on hybrid technology

Corolla Cross Gets a Fresh Look for 2026

The updated Corolla Cross is the most accessible Toyota India 2026 SUV in the refreshed lineup. Toyota has given it a new front grille, a redesigned bumper, and a larger 10.5-inch touchscreen inside. Additionally, a new Cavalry Blue colour option now joins the palette.

Furthermore, the hybrid AWD version of this Toyota India 2026 SUV now produces 196 hp. That is a meaningful jump in performance for a family-focused compact. However, the Corolla Cross stays a 5-seater globally — Toyota has not confirmed a 7-seater version for India yet.

  • Toyota refreshed the Corolla Cross with a 10.5-inch screen and 196 hp hybrid AWD for 2026.
  • The new compact Land Cruiser FJ officially launched in Japan with real 4WD capability.
  • The Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid produces 457 hp — the most powerful Land Cruiser ever built.
  • Toyota’s Maharashtra factories will build a three-row Corolla SUV for India and export markets.
  • Toyota’s total India production capacity will rise to 4.4 lakh units per year.

The Land Cruiser FJ Enters the Scene

Meanwhile, the Land Cruiser FJ is the most talked-about Toyota India 2026 SUV in recent weeks. Toyota officially launched this compact, rugged off-roader in Japan. It runs a 2.7-litre petrol engine with a proper 4WD system and seats five people comfortably.

Nevertheless, reactions to this are mixed online. Many fans love the retro boxy design and the smaller, more affordable package. However, some purists argue it has lost the raw character of the original FJ. Either way, the launch confirms Toyota’s plan to expand the Land Cruiser family.

Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid — The Most Powerful Yet

In addition, the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid is the flagship Toyota India 2026 SUV in terms of sheer power. Toyota revealed a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 hybrid system that pushes out around 457 hp. Consequently, it becomes the most powerful Land Cruiser Toyota has ever produced.

Moreover, prices for this Toyota India SUV have moved upward in India. The Land Cruiser 300 now starts at around ₹2.18 crore. The GR-S variant goes up to ₹2.25 crore — clearly a vehicle for those who do not count the cost.

Maharashtra Factories Will Build the Next-Gen Corolla SUV and Land Cruiser

Beyond the launches, the most significant Toyota India 2026 SUV development is the new Maharashtra manufacturing expansion. Toyota is opening new plants that will serve the domestic market and export to the Middle East and Africa. Therefore, India becomes a key production hub for Toyota globally.

Importantly, one of these factories will produce a three-row SUV — most likely the next-generation Corolla Cross. Reports indicate this model will sit on an updated TNGA-C platform, internally codenamed 900D. Similarly to the current platform, it will support multiple body styles and powertrains.

Furthermore, Toyota plans to introduce plug-in hybrid powertrains at its Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar plant. As a result, the next Toyota India  could be either the Land Cruiser FJ or the next-gen Corolla Cross — both with plug-in hybrid capability built right here in India

India Production Capacity Is Getting a Big Boost

Currently, Toyota’s Bidadi facility produces 3.4 lakh units per year across two plants. However, the third plant opening this year will add 1 lakh more units. Therefore, the total capacity for every Toyota India and other model will rise to 4.4 lakh units annually a significant increase
