Kia Syros EV Revealed with Up to 526km Range, Bookings Open

A New Electric SUV Enters the Picture

The Kia Syros EV has been fully revealed ahead of its India launch. This model has been built on the same K1 platform as its ICE sibling. Bookings have already been opened for a token amount. Reports suggest this amount has been set between Rs 21,000 and Rs 25,000 across sources.

Two Battery Packs on Offer

Two battery pack options have been offered with this electric SUV. A 42kWh unit and a larger 51.4kWh pack have been made available. These packs have been shared with the Creta Electric and Carens Clavis EV. However, more range has been claimed here due to the smaller body.

Range That Leads the Segment

A claimed range of 526km has been announced for the larger battery pack. The smaller 42kWh version has been given a claimed range of 443km. This range has been positioned as class leading by Kia. Rivals like the Nexon EV and XUV 3XO EV have reportedly been outpaced.

Charging Times Explained Simply

An 11kW AC charger has been offered for home charging convenience. Using this charger, the smaller battery reportedly takes around 5 hours to charge. The larger battery has been reported to take slightly longer using the same charger. A 100kW DC fast charger has been claimed to charge both packs in 39 minutes.

Design Stays Familiar on Purpose

Not much has been changed on the outside compared to the ICE Syros. A charging port has replaced the fuel filler on the front fender. Familiar elements like the Digital Tiger Face and Star Map LED lighting have been retained. Nine colour options have reportedly been offered across the Syros EV lineup.

A Cabin Packed with Tech

Inside, the Trinity Panoramic Display has been carried over from the ICE version. This setup includes a 12.3 inch instrument cluster and infotainment screen. A wireless charging pad and Harman Kardon sound system have also been included. Sliding, reclining and ventilated rear seats have been retained from the standard Syros.

Safety Has Been Given Priority Too

Level 2 ADAS features have been included as part of the safety package. Six airbags and a 360 degree camera setup have also been offered. Front parking sensors and an electronic parking brake round off the package. A dual camera dashcam has been added as a thoughtful extra touch.

Power and Performance Figures

The larger battery pack has been paired with a motor producing around 170hp. The smaller pack version has been tuned to produce around 135hp. Both versions have reportedly been given 255Nm of torque output. A 0 to 100kph time of 8.1 seconds has been claimed for the top variant.
