Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally India Launch 170hp Off-Road Beast!

Less Than a Year After Its Global Debut, India Gets the Rally

Some motorcycles take years to cross from international reveal to Indian showroom. The 2026 Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally has not followed that pattern. Unveiled globally last October, the most travel-focused and off-road-ready version of Ducati’s flagship adventure tourer has now arrived in India at a price starting from Rs 32.40 lakh. For buyers who found the regular Multistrada V4 capable but wanted something built specifically for poor roads, gravel routes and mountain stretches, the Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally India launch answers that demand directly.

What Makes the Rally Different From the Regular Multistrada V4

The Rally has always sat above the standard Multistrada V4 range positioned as the more serious off-road and long-distance touring variant. The most immediately noticeable physical difference is the fuel tank a generous 30 litres on the Rally, compared to the standard V4’s smaller 22-litre unit. That extra capacity directly extends touring range, which matters considerably on long highway stretches or remote off-road routes where fuel stops are not guaranteed.

Suspension travel is the other major distinguishing factor. The Rally offers 200mm of travel at both ends, managed by semi-active Marzocchi suspension. The regular Multistrada V4 and V4 S use considerably shorter travel 170mm at the front and 180mm at the rear. That extra 20-30mm of movement gives the Rally a genuine advantage on broken highways, gravel tracks and mountain roads exactly the terrain this motorcycle is designed to handle.

The Engine 1,158cc V4 With WSBK Roots

Power continues to come from the 1,158cc V4 Granturismo engine an engine with “World Superbike-derived technology” at its core. Output is rated at 170hp at 10,750rpm and 123Nm at 9,000rpm. The engine uses a counter-rotating crankshaft and has been deliberately tuned for a linear torque curve rather than a peaky, aggressive delivery; a sensible choice for a motorcycle that needs to be predictable and manageable across long touring distances. The rear-cylinder deactivation feature remains in place shutting down two cylinders at standstill and low engine speeds to reduce heat and improve rider comfort in slow traffic or at fuel stops.

Service intervals on the V4 Granturismo are notably touring-friendly. Valve clearance checks are required only every 60,000km; an unusually long interval for a high-performance V4. Oil service is due every 15,000km or 24 months. For an adventure tourer expected to cover significant distances, these intervals reduce ownership friction considerably.

Smarter Suspension DSS EVO and Ducati Vehicle Observer

The suspension system on the 2026 Rally has been upgraded. The Adaptive Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO system now adjusts damping in real time based on road conditions and rider style reading the route as it unfolds and adapting accordingly. Automatic preload management is retained, maintaining correct setup whether the bike is carrying just a rider, a rider and pillion, or full touring luggage. Riders can also adjust suspension response on the move, independent of the selected riding mode.

Supporting this is the new Ducati Vehicle Observer system, an algorithm that processes inputs simulating data from 70 sensors, combined with the inertial platform, to more accurately estimate the motorcycle’s position and mass. This refined data feed directly improves the precision of cornering ABS and Ducati Wheelie Control particularly valuable when riding off-road, where surface grip and bike attitude change constantly.

Braking, Radar Safety and the Automatic Lowering Device

Braking hardware has been upgraded with a larger 280mm rear brake disc up from the previous specification. The Electronic Combined Braking System now operates bidirectionally applying the rear brake when only the front lever is used, and applying the front brake when only the rear pedal is used. That kind of intelligent brake balancing adds a safety margin, particularly in off-road or emergency braking scenarios.

The radar safety suite has been expanded for 2026. Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Detection are retained from the previous generation. New for this update is Forward Collision Warning alerting the rider to a potential frontal impact through a pop-up notification on the dashboard. A new Automatic Lowering Device is one of the more practical additions on the Rally. Below 10kmph, the system lowers the motorcycle to make it easier for the rider to reach the ground with their feet a genuinely useful feature on a tall adventure bike, particularly in stop-and-go traffic or when stopping on uneven terrain. The bike returns to its standard ride height once speeds exceed 50kmph on-road or 20kmph off-road.

Comfort and Practical Touches

Several smaller updates improve everyday usability. The windscreen is now 40mm wider and 20mm taller than the standard Multistrada V4 offering improved wind protection at highway speeds. Pannier mounts have been reworked to give the passenger more legroom a thoughtful detail for two-up touring. The centre stand is standard equipment and has been redesigned to make lifting the motorcycle easier a genuinely appreciated change given the Rally’s substantial weight when fully loaded. Heated grips with five temperature settings are now standard fitment useful for early morning starts or high-altitude touring routes.

Wheels and Tyres Built for Mixed Terrain

The 2026 Rally uses tubeless spoked wheels as standard a 19-inch front paired with a 17-inch rear. This differs from the cast-wheel setup found on the regular Multistrada V4, and spoked wheels are generally preferred for serious off-road use due to their improved durability over rough terrain. Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres are fitted as standard, alongside tyre pressure monitoring. This wheel and tyre combination, paired with the increased suspension travel, confirms the Rally’s positioning as the genuinely off-road-capable member of the Multistrada family not simply a styling variant of the standard bike.
