Two Thousand Rupees More For a Lot More Motorcycle
There are special editions that justify their premium. And then there are special editions that make you wonder why the standard model does not already have these things. The Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition sits comfortably in the first category and the price gap between it and the regular model is, remarkably, just Rs 2,000. At Rs 3.99 lakh, ex-showroom Maharashtra, the Special Edition brings a revised ergonomics package, a recalibrated suspension, a smoked flyscreen, an adjustable brake lever, a better seat and two heritage-inspired colour schemes. All of that for two thousand rupees over the standard bike. The question is not whether it is worth it. The question is why anyone would choose the standard version at all.
The Design Inspired by a Legend from 2006
The visual identity of the Special Edition draws directly from the 2006 Aprilia Tuono 1000R one of the most celebrated naked bikes of its era. Two colour options are available Mamba Black and Puma Grey. Both use sharper decals, a revised Aprilia logo placement and darker body tones than the standard model. The overall effect is more aggressive, more purposeful and considerably more distinctive on the road. A compact smoked flyscreen sits close to the headlamp adding visual drama while also providing practical wind deflection at higher speeds. It is a small addition that changes the character of the front end noticeably.
Ergonomics Built for India’s Daily Reality

The ergonomic updates on the Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition are genuinely thoughtful and they have been developed with Indian riding conditions firmly in mind. The handlebar has been raised to create a more upright riding position. That single change reduces pressure on the wrists, shoulders and lower back during city commuting and longer rides. For a motorcycle that many buyers will use as a daily ride alongside weekend enjoyment, this improvement has real everyday significance.
The seat has been revised with a high-resilience foam core that reduces vibration transfer from both the road surface and the engine. On Indian roads where surface quality varies enormously within a single commute that is not a luxury addition. It is a practical one. The adjustable front brake lever is the third ergonomic improvement. The lever span can be altered to suit different hand sizes allowing riders to apply braking force more progressively and reduce wrist fatigue during traffic riding or in sudden braking situations.
Suspension Recalibrated for Indian Roads
The suspension changes on the Special Edition reflect the same practical thinking. The initial stroke has been softened specifically to handle potholes, speed breakers and the kind of road surface irregularities that are simply unavoidable in everyday Indian riding. Compression damping has been revised for better performance across varying surfaces. Preload adjustability at both ends allows riders to further fine-tune the setup based on their weight, riding style and whether a pillion is being carried. The result is a motorcycle that should feel more composed and confidence-inspiring on the kinds of roads most Indian riders actually use daily.
The Engine and Electronics Unchanged and That Is Fine

The mechanical package beneath all these updates remains the same as the standard Tuono 457 and that is not a criticism. The 457cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin produces 47.6hp and 43.5Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. “Ride-by-wire throttle control and multi-level traction control are standard fitment. A 5-inch TFT digital instrument cluster handles information display receiving data through the CAN line and doubling as part of the self-diagnosis system.” The cluster also supports lap timing and can store data from the previous 40 laps a feature that speaks to the sporting ambitions of the platform even in this more comfort-oriented special edition. Full-LED lighting and an immobiliser are standard across the range.
Warranty and Accessories More Than Expected
The Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition comes with an extended warranty of four years or 48,000km whichever comes first. That is great for buyers who plan to use the motorcycle as a primary commuter over several years. The official accessory catalogue is also well-stocked covering a bidirectional quickshifter, tyre pressure monitoring system, USB charger, electronic anti-theft system, passenger seat cover, fork sliders, helmet cable lock, shorter rear mudguard and sintered front brake pads. Riders who want to personalise and upgrade their machine have a ready-made list to work through.
Pre-Bookings Are Open But Move Quickly
Pre-bookings for the Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition are now open at select Aprilia dealerships across India. Given the Rs 2,000 price premium over the standard model and the breadth of improvements on offer, the Special Edition is likely to become the default choice for most new Tuono 457 buyers. The combination of heritage-inspired aesthetics, practical ergonomic improvements, suspension recalibration for Indian roads and an extended warranty all for essentially the same money makes the decision straightforward. For anyone who has been considering the Tuono 457 platform, the Special Edition is where the conversation should start.
