It Was Just Another Friday Night…
Nobody was expecting anything unusual. A regular weeknight. While a heavily camouflaged SUV rolled past. Black and white zebra stripes. The kind of wrap that means something serious is being hidden underneath. A Garage Motoring reader had the camera ready. Four clean spy shots were captured. And they tell quite a story. This is an official Mahindra test vehicle. Real-world testing is underway on public roads . Whatever is under that camouflage wrap, Mahindra clearly does not want it seen yet. Is it the Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift 2027?
The Silhouette Doesn’t Lie
Even under heavy camouflage, the Scorpio N’s identity was never in question. The boxy stance. The long wheelbase. The upright roofline. All unmistakably Scorpio. But something feels different. The proportions are not quite the same as what is currently on sale. The ride height appears noticeably higher than the current model. The wheel arches look wider. The overall stance feels more planted more muscular. This is not the Scorpio N that is being delivered from showrooms today.
The Front End Has Had the Most Work Done
The front spy shot is the most revealing of the four images. The grille opening appears wider and different than before . The bumper sits taller. Fog lamp housings seem to be the same. The headlamp units looks a little slimmer from the current model’s. The DRL signature appears to be in its same layout. There doesn’t seem to be to any other changes in the front of the car, besides the grille.
New Wheels and More Road Presence
The side profile shots show a fresh five-spoke alloy wheel design different from anything currently offered on the Scorpio N. The wheels also appear larger. Eighteen or nineteen inches on top variants would not be a surprise. Combined with the taller ride height, the test mule commands significantly more road presence than the outgoing model. The lower body cladding and wheel arch flares look thicker and more pronounced.
The Rear End Has Been Rethought
The rear spy shot taken straight-on reveals the clearest design departure from the current Scorpio N. The tail lamp looks an bit different. The spread is wider and more horizontal a significant change from the current model’s more vertical layout. The tailgate itself appears a bit broader. The rear bumper has a cleaner, lower section. A rear wiper is visible. The overall rear end feels considerably more modern than the current Scorpio N’s relatively simple finish.
What About the Inside?
No interior shots were available from this testing run. However, given the scale of exterior changes visible in these spy shots, an interior refresh would be a logical accompaniment. The current Scorpio N already offers a capable cabin dual screens, a solid audio system and adequate space across all three rows. The update could bring a revised instrument cluster, new upholstery options and etc.
Engines Expected to Carry Over
No powertrain changes are anticipated at this stage. The 2.0-litre mStallion petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel both paired with six-speed manual and automatic options are expected to continue largely unchanged. Although there is an chance it maybe a new EV variant for the original Scorpio N.
Who Will It Go Up Against?
The updated Scorpio N will continue to compete in a segment that has grown considerably more serious. The Tata Safari facelift, the Toyota Fortuner and various monocoque rivals all sit in the same consideration space for different kinds of buyers. But the Scorpio N has always played its own game, ladder-frame construction, proper four-wheel drive on top trims and a price point that keeps it accessible to a wide audience. The changes seen on this test mule appear to sharpen that identity further.
When Is It Coming?
Based on the stage of testing observed and the number of camouflaged units spotted across locations, a public reveal before late 2026 appears unlikely. An early 2027 launch feels like a more realistic timeline. Until then, these spy shots are the closest look available at what Mahindra has been quietly building.
